STEP 2: HELP FRIENDS & FAMILY
As you’ve discovered in this series, panic attacks (and what's typically labeled as ‘panic disorder’) are very common.
Unfortunately, good help for panic is very hard to find.
Since I can't reach everyone on my own, and since we both share the same belief that we don’t want anyone to suffer in silence… if you benefit from what I’m doing here in this series, please tell others about it.
Thank you so much for helping me make a difference!
STEP 3: REINFORCE YOUR INSIGHTS
If you met someone else who experienced panic attacks and you only had 30 seconds to share ONE ESSENTIAL insight from this episode with them... what would you tell them?
Share your answer below to reinforce your long-term memory for this key insight AND to share your perspective with others (who will also share their perspectives with you).
Also, if you have any other comments for me, I'd love to hear them too.
Love,
Michael
P.S. Your email address will NOT be visible to others when you share your insight in the comments section below. Also, if you're more comfortable using just your first name, that's totally fine as well.

That panic is a pattern caused by anxiety producing symptoms, from thoughts and sensations, which can be broken:
Thank you. I’m learning a lot about what I am going thought and really looking forward to episode 3
I’ve been suffering from panic attacks for 46 years. Am learning a lot. My problem is, when am driving. When am so scared my foot goes on the brake. I pray all the time to be free.
A learned fear- that’s it!! I’ve spent so much time trying to figure out why I kept having panic attacks and everyday anxiety. This video made it so clear and I immediately felt better. I couldn’t thank you enough for your work! God bless you! Looking forward to the next episode
The information you have shared in this episode has truly helped me to understand what is going on during a panic attack. i have felt all of those anxious feelings that are hard to describe which does cause a cycle leading to panic. Not knowing what is going on during these anxious times can be frightening. I love hearing you talk with such calmness in your voice. you are almost hypnotizing to watch. You truly have a gift that God has given you. Bless you.
It’s helpful to know that I’m not going to die 🙂
It is amazing how this episode clear my mind, thank so much for the answer that i never had before. now I’m looking forward to episode 3 and I can”t wait to panic free…. thank you so much, you made my day!!!!
Loving this series … giving me HOPE that after 45 years of my life being a living hell and oh so limited that I might just get it back and be able to go places, do things again, soon. … fantastic!!! So, Key insight here for me is .. … HV is responsible for all my weird (and very painful) body sensations.
Hi Michael,
Thank you for these episodes. I have generalized anxiety disorder and panic is a big part of my life, I’m told I am constantly in fight or flight mode my body actually doesn’t seem to ever let go and relax. Just in 2 episodes I feel more educated and had tears in my eyes almost the whole time. Thank you for helping people like me.
thank you very much, now i understand my anxiety better and knows it can’t hurt me.God bless you for selfless work you are doing for people like us
Hey Mike! So we get an episode everyday? How many total? Thank you!
Thank you so much for this information! Linking the body sensations themselves as triggers for an attack makes so much sense. I’ve experienced all of this – including exercise-induced attacks from high heart rate, and really understand how if you break that link between innocent sensation + danger, you prevent panic. Looking forward to video 3!
Thank you for this important information. I started having infrequent bouts of panic and with more stress they became more frequent. Then I attempted to minimize them with deep breathing and meditation. Not helping (as you indicated). As I have no known medical conditions, I just yesterday had a medical apptmt resulting in various tests to rule out any possible onset of a physical condition. I have experienced an economic hit that was the cherry on the top of my unboring life. As well I’m an old lady.
(faltering sense of humor) But my sense of humor momentarily relieves me.
Michael,
Thank you for your well-detailed, nicely organized presentation. Your manner, as I am confident you have been told, is composed and soothing and your easy-to-understand metaphors are much appreciated. I have watched the first 2 videos so far and have downloaded the printed material. May I ask, what parallels do you find between panic disorder and OCD? Do you see a correlation between the neuroanatomical and neurochemical mechanisms of OCD – hyperarousal of the orbital cortex, putamen, and caudate nucleus, as detailed in Jeffrey Schwartz’ book Brain Lock and panic disorder? And, do you find your strategies for dealing with panic helpful in dealing with OCD?
Kindest regards,
John
Have been dealing with anxiety since I was very young. Drank for years threw my 20,s . Thought that was the remeady. But when I decided to quit drinking, nothing changed, anxiety became worse. So I went to therapy, EMDR. meditation, all of it, but no cure. I was put on medication in 2012, but I no it is just a band-aid. I am finding that the first 2 episode have been helpful cant wait for next episode. Thank you
I was “on the fence” about this series, but episode 2 hit me hard. Three years ago, I had a massive panic attack while driving. It felt like my heart was skipping beats and I was sure that I was going to die. I felt light headed, a tightness in my chest and tingly all over(hyperventilating). Well…turns out it wasn’t a heart attack, but I was diagnosed with PVC’s(Premature ventricular contractions). These are not skipped beats, but extra beats. After a couple years of regular monitoring, my cardiologist has assured me that they are benign and that I’m not even a good candidate for medication. Unfortunately, my lizard brain has now been hardwired into this pattern, regardless of logic. I have always thought panic=PVC. The simple switch of PVC=panic is a game changer. This episode has shown me that I shouldn’t try to control physical responses with my mind, but focus on how my mind reacts to physical responses.
sir, I watched both videos.Great videos. You are a very kind person as you are helping so many people.
I am about to watch episode 2. I think understanding panic will go a long way toward helping me deal with it.
Thank you for your explanation. My panic is all medical related. If I have to go to any kind of appointment my heart races. I am try my best to understand and get better. Looking forward to episode 3. I go to Dr. tomorrow. Hoping to use some of episode 2 tomorrow.
Michael
